- Some question regarding the accuracy of this date. Another source says, "The Nancy Ann White, that was married to James Watkins Jr in Sussex County Virginia in 1810, was buried in the Marmon Valley Cemetery in Logan county Jefferson Tsp in Ohio. There are two Watkins tombstones. One has only the name Watkins. The other says Watkins, d 1861, 70y and wife of Jas. This info is in a book published by the Logan County Ohio Genealogical Society and available thru them."

Notes |
- The "Watkins Genealogy" originally published by Aaron Sherman Watkins says that Nancy's name was Nancy Ann White. However, both James Watkins' marriage bond and James and Nancy's marriage record show her as Nancy D. White. "Ann" is a nickname for "Nancy," and so it is likely that "Ann" was a nickname used for her. In the 1850 census, assuming I have actually found their listing, Nancy was listed as Ann.

1810 |
Sussex County, Virginia, United States [8] |
Marriage |
24 Apr 1810 |
Sussex County, Virginia, United States [2, 9] |
- History of Logan County and Watkins Genealogy say that James and Nancy were married on 10 April, 1810. But the records in Sussex County say that they were married 24 April, 1810. Since James posted a marriage bond on 21 April, 1810, it seems unlikely that he would have been married on the 10th; therefore, I believe that the evidence supports 24 April, 1810 as their marriage date.

- Census recorded him as James Wadkins. The family consisted of:
1 Male 26-45: James would have been 34

- Listed as James Watkins, Jr. with three people living in the household.
1 male 50-60: James would have been about 54
2 males 15-20: Elisha would have been about 20 and William, about 15
1 female 40-50: This is probably an error as Nancy would have been about 55.

- This citation may not be correct. The names are given as James and Ann Walker. But the ages and place of birth are correct. This census taker also misspelled the surname of another Watkins as Wadkins; so his accuracy may be suspected.
