- "PEEBLES -- Died at the residence of his son, Robert W. Peebles, near Darlington, Montgomery County, Indiana on the 8th of the 7th mo, 1887, Benjamin Peebles, age 73 years and three months, a member of Sugar River, Mo. Meeting.
A member of the Society of Friends from his birth, he was ever earnest and untiring for the prosperity of the church, for many years acceptably filling the stations of Elder and overseer. For nearly five years he has been a sufferer from a paralytic stroke, and near the close his sufferings were intense and at time he longed to be released that he might be at rest, yet his petitions were for patience unto the end. His close was peaceful."
