Notes | So far this testing has only shown me a relatively close connection to three people who are descended from another Watkins who was a contemporary of our James Watkins, Sr. But their ancestor is NOT a direct relation to ours. Possibly he was a cousin, but neither they nor we know anything about the parents of their earliest known Watkins ancestor.
In some measure, the problem is at the very least that the names James, John and Joseph Watkins were used many times by a number of Watkins families in early Virginia. |
